Biden’s border policies allowed thousands of illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds and terrorist watchlist flags to receive public benefits at American taxpayers’ expense. The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has revealed that 6,300 individuals with questionable backgrounds were paroled into the U.S. with minimal screening and received nearly $1.35 million in government assistance. This shocking failure of our immigration system demonstrates how open border policies have compromised both national security and fiscal responsibility.
Criminal Immigrants Receiving American Tax Dollars
The DOGE report exposed that during the Biden administration, Border Patrol routinely admitted aliens into the United States with virtually no legal status and inadequate security screening. Among those admitted were 6,300 individuals who have since been identified as being on the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center watchlist or having criminal records, prompting immediate termination of their parole status.

Despite their questionable backgrounds, these paroled aliens were able to file for work authorization and receive social security numbers, opening doors to numerous public benefits. The financial impact on American taxpayers has been substantial, with 905 of these individuals collecting Medicaid benefits totaling $276,000, including four people who were on the terrorist watch list.
Public Benefits Flowing to Non-Citizens
The exploitation of our public assistance systems by illegal immigrants with criminal records extends far beyond healthcare benefits. According to DOGE, 41 individuals collected Unemployment Insurance benefits totaling $42,000, while 22 received federal student loans amounting to $280,000.

Even more concerning, 409 of these paroled aliens received net tax refunds in 2024, amounting to $751,000, despite their questionable legal status and backgrounds. Additionally, an undetermined number received SNAP benefits, known as food stamps, further straining resources for needy American citizens.
Failed Border Security Has Real Consequences
The revelation that individuals with potential terrorist connections or criminal backgrounds received U.S. taxpayer funds highlights the dangerous consequences of lax border policies. DOGE’s investigation underscores the fiscal impact of admitting foreign nationals without proper vetting, as American citizens effectively subsidized individuals who should never have been accepted into the country.
“Under the Biden administration, it was routine for Border Patrol to admit aliens into the United States with no legal status and minimal screening. So far, CBP has identified a subset of 6.3k individuals paroled into the United States since 2023 on the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center watchlist or with criminal records. These paroles have since been terminated with immediate effect.”
While authorities have terminated these parole statuses, the damage to public trust and the federal budget has already been done. The findings raise serious questions about the effectiveness of our immigration system and the prioritization of American security and financial resources over political agendas that favor open borders.
